On April 18, 2025, nations worldwide observed World Heritage Day, also known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites. Officially known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites, it’s a global celebration of the cultural and natural landmarks .

History - This annual event, initiated by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in 1982 and recognized by UNESCO in 1983, aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving cultural and natural heritage.

Theme -The theme for this year's celebration was "Heritage under Threat from Disasters and Conflicts: Preparedness and Learning from 60 Years of ICOMOS Actions". This focus highlighted the increasing risks faced by heritage sites due to natural disasters, armed conflicts, and climate change, emphasizing the need for preparedness and resilience in safeguarding these treasures .
