- The World Bamboo Organization aims to bring the potential of bamboo to a more elevated exposure – to protect natural resources and the environment, to ensure sustainable utilization, to promote new cultivation of bamboo for new industries in regions around the world, as well as promote traditional uses locally for community economic development. The World Bamboo Organization Headquarters was located in Antwerp, Belgium.
World Bamboo Day - History
World Bamboo Day was declared official on 18 September 2009 at the event of the 8th World Bamboo Congress conducted in Bangkok. The day was conceptualized by Kamlesh Salam, former President of the WBO, and delegates from around a hundred countries.
