But what this really means is: Options 2, 3, and 4 all fit a ’subtract a certain number’ pattern (for 17, subtract 11; for 34, subtract 31; for 24, subtract 20). Option 1 doesn’t fit this straight subtraction pattern at all—it's got its own unique formula.
