Abhinav Bindra was bestowed with the Olympic Award by the International Olympic Committee on Monday, 22 July.

Bindra was given the highest recognition by the IOC for his outstanding contribution to the Olympic movement.

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was prompt in sharing the news with the Indians as he tweeted with joy about the achievement.

Bindra, India's first-ever individual to win gold medal in the Olympics is known for his work in sports which has helped Indian athletes have a better future. Bindra, 41, has his own foundation through which he supports athletes.
