Celebrated on the second Saturday of August every year, the Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR) is an intense championship organised on the Punnamda Lake (near Alappuzha) in Kerala.
The 70th edition of the race was postponed due to the grave Wayanad landslides in July this year.
The event is now scheduled for September 28 at the same venue despite widespread rumours and speculations of cancellation.
Nehru Trophy Boat Race 2024 will include nine exciting event categories, for which 74 boats, including 19 ‘Chundan Vallams’ or snake boats have registered. Approximately 2 lakh spectators, including foreign visitors, are expected to line the lakefront during the race, creating high-octane expectations, and loud cheers.
