The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has received a grant of Rs. 10 crore from NITI Aayog to set up India’s first Atal Incubation Center (AIC) in fisheries at the university. University officials said here that the grant would foster a culture of innovation and technological advancement.

• The university said that NITI Aayog is the premier policy think tank of the Government of India and the grant given to Kufos is an important boost to innovation and entrepreneurship.
• The AIC initiative is part of the Atal Innovation Mission, which seeks to encourage a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across various sectors in the country.
• Kufos will lead the “transformational project as principal investigator,” under the guidance of Radhika Rajshree, professor and head of the Department of Fish Processing Technology.
• T. Pradeepkumar, Vice-Chancellor, KUFOS expressed great happiness over the development and said: “This grant from NITI Aayog is a testimony to the importance of our work in the field of fisheries and marine studies.
• The AIC will serve as a hub for innovation, encouraging young minds to develop cutting-edge technology and solutions to the challenges faced by our marine ecosystems and fishing communities.
