Direction () : Study the following information carefully and answer the given questions. The following chart shows the opening, closing, high and low price of a share of a company XYZ on given 5 days-Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Opening and closing price of the shares of the company XYZ are represented by ceiling and floor of the black box and floor and ceiling of the white box respectively. The high and low price of the share of the company XYZ are represented by ceiling and floor of the line respectively. For example: On Monday, opening price = 60, closing price = 52, high price = 66 and low price = 40
A trader, bought 250 shares of the company XYZ on Monday. Commission while buying shares per lot (each time) up to Rs. 5000 is flat Rs. 250 and above that 5% of the difference amount. He sold 3/5th of shares on Tuesday closing price and remaining at high price of Wednesday. Commission while selling shares per lot (each time) up to Rs. 4000 is flat Rs. 100 and above that 8% of the difference amount. In this transaction he made profit of Rs. 130, then at what price he bought the shares?
Rs. 52
Rs. 65
Rs. 54
Rs. 56
None of these
Let he bought the shares at the price Rs.x/share, then Total cost price for shares = 250 × x = Rs. 250x (It must be greater than Rs. 5000, because x ≥ 40) Total commission while buying = Rs. 250 + 5% of (250x – 5000) = Rs. 12.5x Total selling price = 3/5of 250 × 50 + 2/5 of 250 × 70 = 7500 + 7000 = Rs. 14500 Total commission while selling = [100 + 8% of (7500 – 4000)] + [100 + 8% of (7000 – 4000)] = 200 + 8% of 6500 = Rs. 720 So, the total profit = 14500 – (720 + 250x + 12.5x) = 130 ⇒262.5x = 13650 ⇒x = 52 Hence, the answer is 1.
