Playback singer K S Chitra and musician Uttam Singh will receive the National Lata Mangeshkar Award of the Madhya Pradesh government at a function on September 28.

• The award ceremony will be held for the first time in the auditorium built by the state government in memory of Mangeshkar.
• The state culture department presents the award every year on the birth anniversary of Lata Mangeshkar.
• Jayant Bhise, director of the Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet Evam Kala Academy, claimed that Uttam Singh will receive the Mangeshkar award for 2022; K S Chitra will receive it for 2023.
• The award, instituted in 1984, aims to inspire artistic fineness in the field of light music. It carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a citation. Naushad, Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle are among its past receivers.
