The proportion of the ages of Pikku and imran is 2 : 5, After 8 years, their ages will be in the proportion of 1 : 2. Then what is the variance in their current ages?

Explanation:

Let Pikku’s age = 2A
and imran’s age = 5A
(2A + 8)/(5A+8)= (1/2)
=> 2 (2A + 8) = 5A + 8
=> A = 8
Pikku’s age = 16 years
and imran’s age = 40 years
variance of their ages = 24 years.
