The Jahrkhand Cabinet approved a proposal wherein transgenders will be given a monthly social security pension of Rs 1,000 under Mukhyamantri Rajya Samajik Suraksha Pension Yojana.

• This new scheme of the Hemant Soren government is meant for transgender people under the social assistance scheme. 
• The government also decided to include them under backward class category and provide them the benefits.
• The scheme aims to provide social security and bring them into the mainstream of society. 
• The scheme is one among 35 agendas that were approved by the cabinet including doubling the compensation amount for security personnel who get injured during duty.
