 Tamworth and Middle white Yorkshire are breeds of swine.

“T&D” is an improved breed of pigs which was developed by Dr. S.K. Singh, Ex-Dean of Ranchi Veterinary College. The breed named ‘T&D’ was developed by crossing and continuous selection of Tamworth with local indigenous (Desi) pig which is distinctively black in colour. This is about 5 to 6 times more remunerative than desi pigs under village managemental condition resulted into progressive increase in number of pig breeders. Favourable impact of adoption of ‘T&D’ pig innovation was observed in terms of guarantying farmers price premium, mitigating marketing uncertainty, reducing drudgery and compatibility with existing farming system.

This pig breed is used by the farmers in some areas of India. They are very fast growing and has a very good carcass quality/dressing percentage. An adult boar weights around 250 to 340 kg and an adult sow weights around 180 to 270 kg.
