Guardianship in Marriage-The competency of the parties is one of the requirements of Muslim marriage and for the party must have attained the age of puberty. But an exception to it is when the marriage is dealt with by the guardian on behalf of the minor. The imposition of marriage on the minor is called jabr, the guardian appointed to minor is called wali and the right of guardianship is called wilayat.
