The strength of the Supreme Court is now defined by a law of the Parliament enacted by it in 1956, called as the number of judges of the SC and HCs- Act which has been amended from time to time to further increase the strength of the SC. Latest amendment of the Law was in 2018 which increased the strength of the SC to 34 including the CJI.
