A defendant under Order V, Rule 1(1) of CPC is required to appear, answer the claim and to ifie the written statement
Within 90 days from the date of service of summons
Within 60 days. from the date of service of summons
Within 30 days from the date of service of summons
Within 15 days from the date of service of summons
A defendant has to file written statement within thirty days of from the service of summons on him. The said period can be further extended up to 90 days by the courts. It is not mandatory and only directory [Rule 1 0. VHII. It is for speedy disposal of cases but speedy disposal does not amount to compromise with justice.
