Contents of a document under Section 59 of Evidence Act

Can only be proved by oral evidence under the order of the court
Section 59 states that all facts except the contents of documents, or electronic records may be proved by oral evidence. The contents of documents must be proved either by the production of the document which is called primary evidence, or by copies or oral accounts of the contents, which are called secondary evidence. Where there is documentary evidence, oral evidence is not entitled to any weight. (Section 61).
Thus in the absence of original document or a certified . copy, . evidence regarding the contents of the document can be given by a person who has read the document, and . has knowledge of the contents.
