Nethanna Bima Scheme was launched recently by Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao, on the occasion of National Handloom Day. This scheme has been launched for the welfare of weavers.

• Nathanna Bima Scheme is one-of-its-kind insurance cover scheme, that will benefit around 80,000 weavers’ families.
• Under the scheme, government will provide Rs 5 lakh insurance cover to the families of weaver, in case of unfortunate death of eligible beneficiary.
• Government will provide economic assurance to handloom and power loom weaver families.
• Scheme will be implemented by government in association with the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India.
• Telangana state department of handlooms and textiles is the nodal agency for its implementation.
• Government will pay annual premium, on behalf of the LIC.
