The MoRD along with co-operation with certain banks in India has set up Rural Self- Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) to meet the challenges of unemployment and rural development. The main objective of these institutes is to identify and train BPL rural youth to develop them into entrepreneurs on a demand-based approach. Several training programmes like agricultural-based programmes (trainings on agriculture and other allied fields like animal husbandry, horticulture, mushroom cultivation, fisheries etc.); product-development based programmes (production of agarbatti, bags, bakery products etc., dress designing); process-based programmes (electrical, mechanical, and electronic repair and service works, beautician courses, photo and videography, screen printing etc.); and other women-specific and area-specific programmes.
