Geological Survey of India(GSI)

Geological Survey of India (GSI) has installed 2 Geological Display Boards at Mawmluh cave, Therriaghat.
The prime objective of this was to create awareness among students, visiting tourists and the general public and will also help to conserve the site and aid the upcoming generations to be aware of such geological developments.
Limestone mining for the cement industry is a huge threat to the Caves of Meghalaya, causing a major collapse of the Krem Mawmluh cave. This is the 7th longest cave in of Meghalaya. The word “Krem” means cave in the local Khasi language.
