Retired IAS officer (1979 batch) K Kailashnathan assumed office as the lieutenant governor of the Union territory of Puducherry on Wednesday( 7 august 2024)

• Madras high court Acting Chief Justice D Krishnakumar administered the oath of office and secrecy to him in the presence of chief minister N Rangasamy, ministers and senior officials of the territorial administration in a simple function at Raj Nivas.
• Kailashnathan served as principal secretary and additional chief secretary to Gujarat chief minister from 2006 to 2013. After superannuation, he was appointed as chief principal secretary to the Gujarat chief minister from May 2013 to June 2024.
• He was also chairman of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited and chairman of executive council of Mahatma Gandhi Sabarmati Ashram Memorial Trust entrusted with Gandhi Ashram Redevelopment Project.
