Renowned nuclear physicist Bikash Sinha died in Kolkata on Friday(11 August 2023) morning. Sinha, 78, was suffering from old age-related ailments.

• Bikash Sinha was a former director of the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) and the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC).
• He had been suffering from old age-related ailments, was a recipient of the Padma Bhushan in 2010 for his contribution to science & technology.
•  West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose said he was a personal friend, an eminent scientist and a good human being.
• Sinha was conferred the Padma Bhushan Award in 2010 for his significant contribution in science and technology.
