In the year 2022, 11 new Specialised Schools of Excellence (SoSEs) has been introduced in Delhi, taking the total tally of such schools to 31.

Admission Process
The process of admission for new session has started across these schools now. Students can apply for admission to class 9 in their preferred domain till February 28, 2022. Apart from that, students can admission in Class 11 in STEM and Armed Forces Preparatory School (AFPS) in 2022. Students who are looking to take admissions can reach out to admission help desk, that have been set up at their nearest SoSE.
Significance of AFPS
This year, Armed Forces Preparatory School (AFPS) has also been included in SoSE. The AFPS seeks to prepare students who are dreaming to serve India by becoming officers in Indian armed forces.” In 2022-2023 session, admission can be taken in AFPS for Class 9 and 11. AFPS will be residential school, where students would be trained rigorously to prepare them for Indian Armed forces. Its campus is spread over an area of 14 acres in Jharoda Kalan.
Eligibility Criteria
As per usual guidelines adopted by Delhi government, students require a minimum of 66% aggregate marks in Class 7 to take admission in Class 9 of any SoSE. On the other hand, minimum of 75% aggregate marks is required in Class 9 to take admission in Class 11. 5% waiver will be given for students from OBC, SC, ST, and CWSN (Children with Special Needs) categories.
