On 27 December 2021; Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for the Renukaji Dam Project in Himachal Pradesh.

This dam is being built on the Giri River in Sirmaur district in the Himachal Pradesh at an estimated cost Rs 6,700-crore.

Experts are optimistic that the project will generate 200 million units of energy in a surface powerhouse with a 40 MW installed capacity.

The Dam will also provide approximately 40% of Delhi’s drinking water needs as its storage capacity will be around 498 million cubic meters.
