On January 23, 2022, India celebrated 125th Birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His birth anniversary is also marked as “Parakram Diwas or Courage Day. This day was announced in 2021.
About Parakram Divas
The government of India decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as Parakram Divas. Thus, to honour and remember his indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation, January 23 is celebrated as Parakram Divas every year.
Aim of the celebration
The day seeks to inspire people of India, especially the youth, to act with fortitude in the face of adversity. It further aims to infuse a spirit of patriotic favour in youth.
Desh Nayak Divas
Trinamool Congress had announced to celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji as ‘Desh Nayak Diwas’.
About Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born in Cuttack (Odisha) on January 23. He was born to Janakinath Bose and Prabhavati Dutt. He was affectionately called as Netaji and he was one among the prominent leaders of Indian freedom struggle. Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) was founded by him to overthrow British Empire from India. He was also an active part of the youth wing of Indian National Congress (INC). In between 1938 to 1939, he was also the President of the INC.
Netaji’s demise
Demise of Netaji is still a mystery. As per government records, he died due to third-degree burns that he sustained during a plane crash in Taiwan. Thus, it is widely believed that Bose died on August 18, 1945 in an air crash in Taiwan. However, some section of people believe that he survived that crash and went into hiding to escape the British.
