Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the Tribal Pride Day Mahasammelan in Madhya Pradesh on November 15, 2021.

Highlights

• PM will address the Mahasammelan at Jamboori Maidan Bhopal.
• Mahasammelan is being organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda.
• On this occasion, several programmes will be organised in every tribal-dominated gram panchayat of the state.
• Programmes will mark the presence of Tribal women self-help groups of Madhya Pradesh, beneficiaries of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Kisan Samman Yojana, and others.

• On the occasion, PM will dedicate India’s first PPP-mode built Habibganj railway station to the Nation.
• He will also launch Sickle Cell Eradication Mission and Ration Aapke Dwar Yojana in Madhya Pradesh while addressing from the Mahasammelan.

Who was Birsa Munda?

Birsa Munda was an Indian tribal freedom fighter, folk hero and a religious leader. He belonged to the Munda tribe. He led the tribal religious millenarian movement, arising from Bengal Presidency (now Jharkhand) during the British Raj, in the late 19th century. This movement made him a significant figure in the history of Indian independence movement. This revolt was mainly concentrated in the Munda belt of Khunti, Sarwada, Tamar and Bandgaon. His portrait has found place in Indian Parliament Museum, making him the only tribal leader to get this much honour.
