UP govt imposes ban on sale of meat, liquor within 10 sq km radius of Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath imposed a complete ban on the sale of liquor and meat in Mathura. 'Sale of meat, liquor within 10 sq km radius of Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura will be banned', announces Yogi Govt.

• The Uttar Pradesh government banned sale of liquor and meat within 10 square kilometres radius around Krishna Janmabhoomi in Vrindavan, Mathura.
• The region has 22 municipal wards, has been declared a pilgrimage site.
• The Uttar Pradesh CM had said the decision was taken following the demand raised by the seers of the Braj region.
• The administration had been asked to keep the Braj region free of meat and alcohol, said Yogi Adityanath.
• He also said the officers concerned were instructed to make plans for the employment of people who were earlier engaged in the business.
• CM Yogi Adityanath had suggested that those involved in the trade of alcohol and meat should take up selling milk.
