Cyclone Gulab, made landfall in the state of Andhra Pradesh, hitting the landmass between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. It then crossed the Bay of Bengal coast off Kalingapatnam. Four months after Cyclone Yaas caused destruction across Odisha and West Bengal, another cyclone formed across south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coast. In the 21st century, only two tropical cyclones—Daye (2018) and Pyarr (2005)— made landfall over the Indian east coast from the Bay of Bengal. Hence, Cyclone Gulab is the third such cyclone to make landfall in September.
