• August 6: Hiroshima Day 
• Hiroshima Day is observed every year on August 6 to promote peace politics and raise awareness of the effects of the bomb attack on Hiroshima. Hiroshima city was attacked by an atomic weapon that killed thousands of lives instantly on August 6, 1945. Today is the 76th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the Japanese city. It was the first city to be attacked by a nuclear bomb.

August 9: Quit India Day, Nagasaki Day, International Day of the World’s Indigenous peoples.                                                                                       What is the main theme of Quit India Movement?                                                                                                                                                                             Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, people all over India came together to overthrow imperialism. On this day in 1942, Gandhi gave the slogan             'Do or Die' to all Indians to drive out the British from the country. We got freedom only when the common people of the country joined this movement.

• Jawaharlal Nehru declared India's independence on August 15, 1947, and swore in as the 1st Indian Prime Minister.The British House of Commons passed the Indian Independence Bill on July 4, 1947, and it was passed within a fortnight. This was a major part of the process that led India to her victory.
• August 19: Photography Day, World Humanitarian Day
• The day also lays emphasis on the importance of cameras and photography in our personal lives by documenting memorable lifetime events of our lives on pixels. World Photography Day 2021: Transcending the boundaries of language, photography is a medium that has a universal value.
• This day was designated in memory of the 19 August 2003 bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killing 22 people, including the chief humanitarian in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello. In 2009, the United Nations General Assembly formalized the day as World Humanitarian Day (WHD).
• August 21:World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2021
• The current theme of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is ‘Access to Justice.’ The theme serves as a reminder of the critical need to completely meet the needs of older people and how important it is to take care of them.
• August 29: National Sports Day
  The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29 August, on the birth anniversary of hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. This day marks the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand Singh, the hockey player who won gold medals in Olympics for India in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936.
