WW-2 War Veteran and Mahavir Chakra recipient in 1965 war Brig Raghubir Singh passes away at 99

Brigadier Raghubir Singh Rajawat, who was the recipient of Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) for gallantry in the 1965 Indo-Pak war, has passed away. He was 99.
He fought in the Indo-Pak war of 1947-48 in the Uri sector immediately after Independence.
Singh belonged to the 18 Rajputana Rifles battalion (later 11 Mechanised Infantry) and commanded his battalion during the 1965 Indo Pak war, which led his battalion in successfully accomplishing the mission to kick out the Pak Army who had the suspicious motive of reaching Harike in Punjab.
For this gallant act, Lieutenant Colonel (later Brigadier) Raghubir Singh was honored with Maha Vir Chakra, the second highest gallantry award, by the then President of India, Dr S Radhakrishnan.
During the 1971 Indo Pak War, he was posted as Provost Marshal in the Military police with the responsibility to look after One Lakh Pakistani Prisoners of War in the Bangladesh Surrender Camp.
