Indian Navy & DRDO conduct maiden trial of first indigenous air-dropped container ‘SAHAYAK-NG’

The Indian Navy successfully conducted the maiden test trial of ‘SAHAYAK-NG’, off the coast of Goa.
SAHAYAK-NG is India’s first indigenously designed and developed Air Dropped Container that will enhance the operational logistics capabilities of the navy.
The test trail was conducted by Indian Navy in association with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from IL 38SD aircraft of Indian Navy.
The SAHAYAK-NG container has been developed by DRDO laboratories, Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam and Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment, Agra.
The newly developed GPS aided air dropped container has the capability to carry a payload of up to 50 kg and can be dropped from heavy aircraft.
It will provide critical engineering stores to ships that are deployed more than 2000 kilometers from the coast.
It reduces the requirement of ships to come close to the coast to collect spares and stores.
