Government Renames Ministry of Shipping as Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways

The Government of India has decided to rename the Ministry of Shipping as the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
This information was given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 November 2020, during a launch event of Ropax ferry service between Ghogha (Bhavnagar) and Hazira (near Surat) in Gujarat, which was inaugurated via video-conferencing.
The Ro-Pax Ferry Vessel ‘Voyage Symphony’ will reduce the nearly 370 km road distance between the two places to 90 km by sea route.
Mansukh L. Mandaviya, currently holds the portfolio as Minister of State (Independent Charge).
