India becomes member of United Nation’s Commission on Status of Women (UNCSW)

India has been elected as a member of the United Nation’s Commission on Status of Women (UNCSW).
UNCSW Headquarters- New York, United States.
UNCSW is a body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is responsible for promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women.
India will be a member of the UNCSW for four years — from 2021 to 2025. Three countries, India, China and Afghanistan had contested the elections in which India and Afghanistan have been elected to UNCSW while China has failed to do so.
