NPCI to set up Rs 500-crore Smart data centre in Hyderabad to handle digital transactions

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is setting up its own ‘Smart Datacentre’ in Hyderabad, Telangana, at an investment of Rs. 500 crore.
The foundation stone for this Tier-IV data centre was laid by Telangana Information Technology and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao at Narsingi village in Hyderabad.
The Smart Data Centre is being constructed by L&T and will be built with an Internet of Things (IoT) based building- management system that will have eight layers of security, conforming to top global standards of data centres.
The centre will protect the systems from natural calamities, ensuring smooth processing of data and further enhance acceptance infrastructure for digital payments so as to encourage customers towards digital transactions.
