In which year the head quarter of RBI is moved from Kolkata to Mumbai (Then Bombay) ?
1936
1937
1938
1939
RBI was formed by the RBI Act of 1937. Before that it was an imperial organisation under a superior bank at London. Since 1900s Mumbai emerged to be the financial capital of India while the capital shifted from Calcutta to Delhi in 1911. You always want banks around areas with high industrial growth not areas of high political tension or instability and at that time Calcutta was the main centre of revolutionary freedom activity.
