A monetary penalty of Rs.5 crore on Bank of India for non-compliance with certain provisions of the directions issued by RBI on “Income Recognition, Asset Classification and Provisioning pertaining to Advances - Divergence in NPA accounts”, “Opening of current accounts by banks – Need for discipline”, and “Classification and reporting of frauds.” This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of section 47A (1) (c) read with sections 46 (4) (i) and 51 (1) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (the Act).
A monetary penalty of Rs. 30 lakh on Saraswat Co-operative Bank Ltd. for non-compliance with directions issued by RBI on ‘Income Recognition and Asset Classification (IRAC) norms.’ The penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of Section 47A (1) (c) read with Section 46 (4) (i) and Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
A monetary penalty of Rs. 1.20 crore on Karnataka Bank Ltd. for non-compliance with certain provisions of directions issued by RBI on “Prudential Norms on Income Recognition, Asset Classification and Provisioning Pertaining to Advances - Divergence in NPA Accounts” and “Prudential norms on Income Recognition, Asset Classification and Provisioning pertaining to Advances”. The penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of Section 47 A (1) (c) read with Section 46 (4) (i) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
