GoI hiked DA (Dearness allowance) of Government Employees by 4 %

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 01 January 2020.
The Union Cabinet approved a 4 % hike in Dearness Allowance to 21 % for 48 lakh government employees and 65 lakh pensioners.
The announcement was made by the Union I & B Minister Prakash Javadekar.
The increase is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
The government will incurred Rs. 14,595 crore additional expenses due to the hike.
