Michael Debabrata Patra appointed as Deputy Governor of RBI

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Michael Debabrata Patra as a Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a three-year tenure.
He has replaced Viral Acharya who resigned from the post in July 2019.
Prior to this he was working as an Executive Director of RBI, managing four departments Department of Economic and Policy Research, Department of Statistics and Information Management, Monetary Policy Department and New Frontiers Unit, also part of the rate setting six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).
Reserve Bank of India consist of Four deputy Governors.
Michael Patra is the fourth Deputy Governor of the RBI along with NS Vishwanathan, BP Kanungo and MK Jain.
