Anti-human trafficking units in all districts

Union Ministry of Women and Child Development will be setting up anti-human trafficking units in all districts of the country with the help of Nirbhaya Fund. The announcement in this regard was made by Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani.
The recommendation to set up anti-human trafficking units and women help desks (WHDs) was given by the Empowered Committee (EC) under Nirbhaya framework chaired by WCD Secretary Rabindra Panwar.
Nirbhaya Fund was announced by the Centre in 2013 to support the initiatives of government and Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs) working towards the safety of women.The fund is a corpus of Rs. 10 billion and is administered by Finance Ministry’s Department of Economic Affairs (DEA).
