GDP growth falls to 4.5% in Q2 of 2019-20

The Gross Domestic Product growth fell to 4.5 per cent in the second quarter(July-September) of the financial year 2019-20.
The GDP growth rate for the first quarter of 2019-20 settled at 5 per cent.
The slowdown in economic growth has taken away from India the tag of world's fastest growing major economy to China. India's growth rates in the Q4 2018-19 and Q1 2019-20 were slower than that of China, which is a much bigger economy.
India's economic growth has taken a hit due to a number of factors - including slowdown in private consumption, investment and export - but the key indicator is lack of credit (money to produce goods) growth and demand in the market.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total monetary or market value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country boundary in a specific time period. As a broad measure of overall domestic production, it functions as a comprehensive scorecard of the country’s economic health.
