Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli to be merged

The Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union Territories) Bill 2019 was introduced in the Lok Sabha by Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy.Lok Sabha passes the bill to merge 2 UT's.
The Bill was passed by voice vote with the government asserting that the merger will fast-track development of the two union territories.
The merger will help in achieving the government’s goal to have Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.
The merged Union Territory is likely to be named as Dadra, Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and its headquarters could be Daman and Diu.
