Once the Magistrate has proceeded with examination of the complainant or decided to record the statement of the complainant on oath:

the police cannot be directed to investigate under section 156(3) of Cr PC

the police can still be directed to investigate under section 156(3) of Cr PC

the police may or may not be so directed under section 156(3) of Cr PC depending on the facts & circumstances of the case

both (b) & (c).

the police cannot be directed to investigate under section 156(3) of Cr PC
