The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) marked its 9th anniversary in August 2025 with a record ?5.4 lakh crore gross merchandise value (GMV) achieved during FY 2024–25. Since its inception in August 2016, GeM has transformed India’s public procurement ecosystem by fostering transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity.
The platform has been instrumental in empowering women-led enterprises, startups, micro and small enterprises (MSEs), artisans, and self-help groups (SHGs). Recent reforms, including the removal of caution money, rationalized vendor fees, and waived transaction charges for 97% of orders, reflect GeM’s continued commitment to “Ease, Access & Inclusion.”
