Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the International Saraswati Mahotsav 2025 at Adi Badri, the place where the river is believed to have originated, in Yamunanagar district.

• The festival aims to draw the world's attention to India's rich civilisation and preserve it for posterity.
• The festival will be held till Feb 2.
• Quoting from Mahabharata, the CM said the river Saraswati which flowed through Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat covering a distance of about 1,600 km, actually emerged from Adi Badri in the Shivalik Hills of Yamunanagar. It then merged with the Arabian Sea, but with time the river has disappeared, he added.
• The CM further said recognising the significance of the river, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had initiated efforts to revive it by linking it with Narmada and Sabarmati when he was the CM of Gujarat.
