Direction : Read the following information and answer the questions. A cricket match has to be organized in two areas – Rajnagar and Mirgarh. There are four batsmen- A, B, C and D where D is a Keeper batsman and there are five bowlers- P, Q, R, S and T where P is a special keeper and S is the only spinner among them. Selection of players has to be decided by following conditions.
Prize Money of Players
A 10 lakhs P 9 lakhs
B 9 lakhs Q 7 lakhs
C 8 lakhs R 8 lakhs
D 7 lakhs S 10 Lakhs
T 6 lakhs
1) There should always be a keeper behind the wickets.
2) The budget of Rajnagar is not more than 55 lakhs and the budget of Mirgarh is not more than 60 lakhs.
3) The pitch of Rajnagar supports fast bowlers so all fast bowlers must play in this match and wicket falls too quickly so more than two batsmen are required.
4) The spinner must play in the team of Mirgarh and more than two batsmen and at least two bowlers are playing in this team.
5) Those players who do not play in the first match must play in the second match.
6) The match rules are unconventional and number of players may vary in each match.
P must play with which player?
B
D
R
T
S
Let’s piece this together step by step:
- Rajnagar: Needs all fast bowlers (P, Q, R, T; S is the only spinner, so not here) and more than two batsmen, plus always a keeper (only D or P). Budget max 55 lakhs.
- Mirgarh: Spinner S must play. More than 2 batsmen and at least 2 bowlers. Always a keeper (so D or P). Budget max 60 lakhs.
- Anyone not in Rajnagar is in Mirgarh (so everyone plays).
- Prize money for all players is given, so let's check cost: P can only play in Rajnagar as fast bowler and a keeper.
- Since P must play in Rajnagar (with all fast bowlers), let's see if P must team up with anyone specifically:
- P as keeper, D doesn't need to play in Rajnagar.
- All fast bowlers: P, Q, R, T.
- Need more than 2 batsmen: pick any 3 from A, B, C, D (but D is not required since P is keeper).
- So P's teammates are Q, R, T, plus 3 batsmen (A, B, C).
- S (the spinner) cannot be in Rajnagar, so not with P.
- So for Rajnagar: P, Q, R, T, A, B, C = 7 players.
Checking options:
- B: Yes, P plays with B in Rajnagar.
- D: No, D not required, as P is the keeper.
- R: Yes, P plays with R (both fast bowlers).
- T: Yes, P plays with T (both fast bowlers).
- S: No, S (the only spinner) is reserved for Mirgarh. S and P never play together.
So, given that S doesn’t play with P,
The correct answer is:
Option:3, R
P must play with R, since both are fast bowlers and Rajnagar requires all fast bowlers. S is always on the other team.
That’s the simplest way to see it.
