Directions : Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below.
Six persons J, K, L, M, N, O are born in six different years 1946, 1958, 1963, 1971, 1994, 2006. All of them like different colours Red, Black, Orange, Pink, White, Yellow. Note- All the calculations of the ages are to be done on the basis of year 2019. The sum of the ages of M and the one who likes Black colour is 86. The one who likes Pink colour was born in an even numbered year. M does not like red colour. The one who likes Pink colour is older than the one who likes Black colour. M does not like Pink colour. K is older than the one who like Pink colour. N likes Orange and was born in an odd numbered year. The sum of the ages of J and the one who likes Yellow colour is 81. O is younger than the one who likes orange colour. L does not like yellow colour.
How many persons born after O?
Two
Four
None
One
Three
Let’s break this down step by step:
- The years given are: 1946, 1958, 1963, 1971, 1994, 2006.
- Sum of M + Black’s ages is 86: 2019 minus birth years should add to 86.
- Sum of J + Yellow’s ages is 81: Again, difference from 2019 adds to 81.
- N likes Orange and is born in an odd year. So N is 1946, 1963, or 1971.
- The one who likes Pink was born in an even year and is older than Black.
- M does not like Red or Pink.
- O is younger than the one who likes Orange.
- K is older than Pink.
- L does not like yellow.
Let’s do the math:
- Ages in 2019: 2019 - years = 73, 61, 56, 48, 25, 13.
- Possible pairs for 86: 73+13, 61+25, 56+30, but 30 isn’t on the list. Only 73 (1946) + 13 (2006) = 86 fits.
- So, M and Black are 73 and 13 (either way).
- For 81: 73+8, 61+20, 56+25, 48+33, only 56+25 = 81 works.
- So, J and Yellow are 56 and 25 (either way).
Now, if O is younger than Orange, and Orange is N, who’s in an odd year (1946/1963/1971). The youngest odd year is 1971 (48y). Younger options: 25 (1994), 13 (2006), but 13 is already used.
So O must be either 25 or 13.
- If O is 13 (2006), only the one born in 2019 could be after him, but there is no such person.
- If O is 25 (1994), only the person born in 2006 is after, so only one person was born after O.
To answer the question: How many persons born after O?
- If O is born in 1994 (age 25 in 2019), only one person (the one born in 2006) is after O.
- So the answer is One.
- Option 4: One.
Here’s the answer in simple form:
Correct answer: Option:4–One.
There is only ONE person born after O. The person born in 2006. This fits all clues.
