A container contains 765 litres mixture of milk and water in the ratio of 10 : 7 respectively. If 20% mixture was taken out and 2X litre milk and (3X – 32) litre water is added in the remaining mixture, then the ratio of the milk to water in the final mixture becomes 6 : 5. What is the difference between the quantity of milk and water in the final mixture?
80 litres
60 litres
75 litres
120 litres
90 litres
The quantity of water in the mixture =765/17 x10 = 450 litres The quantity of milk in the mixture = 765/17 x 7= 315 litres The quantity of the mixture that is taken out = 765 × 0.20 = 153 litres According to the data provided in the question, we get: ⇒ 5(360 + 2X) = 6(220 + 3X) ⇒ 1800 + 10X = 1320 + 18X ⇒ 8X = 480 ⇒ X = 60 Quantity of milk in the final mixture = 450 – 90 + 120 = 480 litres Quantity of water in the final mixture = 315 – 63 + 148 = 400 litres Required difference = 480 – 400 = 80 litres
