It is joint initiative of Google India and Tata Trusts. It aims to facilitate digital literacy among women in rural India.

The programme was launched in July 2015 and was started as a pilot in Rajasthan.
Since 2015 it has been expanded to states including- Uttar Pradesh, , Bihar, Haryana, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana , Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Assam, West Bengal, Tripura and Goa.
It has trained 70,000 Internet Saathis, who have in turn impacted 2.6 crore million women in India.

Google India and Tata Trusts are set to expand their programme for rural women to villages in Punjab and Odisha.
