The cloudy nights are warmer than the clear nights because-
The clouds prevent radiation of heat from the ground and the air.
Clouds absorb sunlight during the day and radiate the same in night.
Clouds make the atmosphere damp and generate heat.
The clouds obstruct the movement of the air which creates heat.
Because of its temperature, the atmosphere emits infrared radiation. For example, on clear nights Earth's surface cools down faster than on cloudy nights. This is because clouds are strong absorbers and emitters of infrared radiation. This is also why it becomes colder at night at higher elevations.
