    • India granted voting rights to transgenders in 1994. 61st CAA lowered voting age from 21 to 18 years.
    • In landmark judgement National Legal Services Authority(NALSA) vs Union of India 2014, Supreme Court recognised transgender as the "third gender". The government was directed to treat them as socially and educationally bacward classes and extended all kinds of reservations.
    • The Lok Sabha has passed The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2016 but it has not yet been passed in the Rajya Sabha.
    • Also, the bill while proividing recognition does not yet extend reservations to the community.
    • Hence, both statements are incorrect.
