The draft National Education Policy 2019 has suggested significant changes in the field of Medical Education. These include lateral entry of nursing and dental graduates in to the MBBS course, a common foundation course of of one to two year before 3 year specialisation for all and common exit exam for all MBBS graduates .
Other changes suggested in the draft policy include no fee regulation for professional education , scholarships for 50 percent students , freedom for institutions to decide curriculum based on broad framework laid down by the regulatory body and inspection and accreditation to be outsourced to empaneled agencies.
