The Ordinance proposes to supersede the MCI within a period of one year and have a Board of Governors exercise the powers of the MCI in the interim period. The Ordinance increases the strength of the Board of Governors from 7 members to 12 members. The Board will include members with prior administrative experience. These changes have been proposed to increase transparency and ensure good governance of medical education in the country.
